Seven people injured in collision between car and minibus on Kyiv–Chop highway. PHOTOS

A road accident on the Kyiv–Chop highway near the village of Tsarivka in the Zhytomyr region left seven people injured.

As Censor.NET reports, the Zhytomyr Regional Police announced this.

Car collides with scheduled minibus

The accident occurred at around 2:30 p.m. on August 25 at kilometre 90 of the Kyiv–Chop highway in the Korostyshiv community.

According to law enforcement officers, a Chevrolet Aveo was travelling towards Kyiv when it collided with a Volkswagen LT scheduled minibus travelling ahead in the same direction. The minibus was operating the Lutsk–Kyiv service.

The minibus overturned following the collision.

"The driver of the Chevrolet Aveo and six passengers of the minibus were injured," law enforcement officers reported.

All those injured were taken to Zhytomyr Regional Hospital, where they are receiving the necessary medical treatment.

Investigators working at crash scene, traffic disrupted

An investigative team from Police Department No. 1 of Zhytomyr District Police Directorate No. 2 and officers from the Transport Crime Investigation Department of the Investigation Directorate of the National Police in Zhytomyr region are currently working at the crash scene.

Law enforcement officers are establishing all the circumstances and causes of the collision.

The accident prompted the closure of traffic towards Kyiv on this section of the road. Patrol officers have introduced alternating traffic and are directing the flow of vehicles.

Earlier, National Security and Defence Council Secretary Ihor Klymenko said that more than 40% of road accidents are caused by speeding.
