Explosions were heard early this morning in the Russian republic of Bashkortostan.

This was reported on social media, according to Censor.NET.

Details

Local residents reported explosions, particularly in Ufa and Sterlitamak.

According to the Russian Ministry of Defence, air defence systems were ‘in operation’ in Bashkortostan to intercept drones.

There were also reports of the airport being closed.

• On 19 August, it was reported that in Ufa (Republic of Bashkortostan), following a drone attack, a unit at an oil refinery that was undergoing repairs caught fire.
