Bulgarian Navy destroyed unidentified drone in Black Sea. PHOTO

The Bulgarian Navy has destroyed a drone of unknown origin that was detected in the Black Sea off the coast of St Ivan Island. The decision to destroy it was taken on security grounds.

According to Censor.NET, this was reported by the Bulgarian Ministry of Defence.

The servicemen acted at the request of the governor of Bulgaria’s Burgas region and on the orders of the Navy commander.

For safety reasons, the drone was destroyed on the spot, in accordance with safety protocols.

What led up to this

• On 26 August, the Bulgarian Navy detected three drones off the coast of the country’s resort towns and in the waters of the Black Sea.
