Russian strike on ’Kametstal’: Production has come to complete standstill. PHOTOS
Five people were killed in the attack, and a further four more employees were injured. Key production facilities and infrastructure were damaged, and the plant has completely halted production.

As noted, this is yet another attack on Metinvest’s civilian steelworks and further evidence of Russia’s systematic strikes against Ukraine’s industrial infrastructure.
The enemy employed a tactic it has previously used during attacks on Ukrainian industrial enterprises: only a few minutes elapsed between the air-raid alert being sounded and the missile strike – not enough time for all employees to reach the shelters.
"The terrorist state continues its brutal attempts to cripple the Ukrainian economy. There were no military targets, military equipment or military production facilities on the Kametstal site. Only civilians worked there, smelting cast iron and steel exclusively for civilian purposes. This did not deter the aggressor, who, unable to achieve military victory on the battlefield, has switched to a tactic of terrorising the civilian population and civilian enterprises. "Unfortunately, the Metinvest family has been going through the most difficult times in its entire 20-year history in recent months. Our thoughts and our full support go out to the families of the employees who were killed or injured," said Metinvest’s Chief Operating Officer, Oleksandr Myronenko, commenting on the consequences of the terrorist attack.
Damage
As a result of the attack, the plant’s sinter and blast furnace operations, as well as its energy and transport infrastructure, were damaged. The plant was forced to bring all production processes to a complete halt.
Casualties and injuries
The Russian attack claimed the lives of five people – four plant employees and one employee of a contractor. Metinvest and Kametstal express their sincere and deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of those who died.
A further four plant employees sustained injuries of varying severity. All those affected were promptly provided with the necessary medical care, after which they were placed under medical supervision. The plant is providing the victims with all necessary support and assistance, maintaining constant contact with them and their families, and monitoring their health until they have fully recovered.
Urgent emergency and restoration work is currently underway at the plant. Once the rubble has been cleared, specialists will gain access to the damaged areas and will be able to carry out a full inspection of the equipment and infrastructure to assess the extent of the damage and determine possible next steps for resuming production. The timeframe for the restoration and restart of production processes is currently unknown.
