Since 24 February 2022, SSU has blocked 76 bot farms operating in Ukraine and spreading pro-Russian narratives. VIDEO

Since the start of the full-scale invasion, the SSU has blocked 76 bot farms with an audience of 3 million fake accounts and neutralised almost 4,000 cyberattacks.

This was stated by the head of the SSU Cyber Security Department, Ilya Vityuk, Censor.NET reports.

"The enemy regularly tries to undermine the situation in the information space of Ukraine. One of the tools of such influence is bot farms that spread pro-Russian narratives on the Internet. Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Russia, the SSU has already blocked 76 such bot farms with a total capacity of over 3 million accounts," said the head of the department.

According to him, the SSU successfully counteracts the enemy in cyberspace, regularly repelling massive attacks on state resources, critical infrastructure, telecommunications companies, etc. In particular, in 10 months of 2023, the SSU has already neutralised almost 4,000 cyberattacks.

At the same time, the SSU Cyber Security Department has information that Russia is creating a national system of cyber attacks, introducing relevant subjects into the curricula of educational institutions to involve even students in hacking activities. All of this, of course, is under the control of the special services.

"This is no longer just about career intelligence officers. We have information that a number of educational institutions are already teaching the subject of 'cyber attacks on civilian infrastructure'. They want to increase the scale of attacks and the number of people who can do it professionally. By the way, they are teaching how to attack not only Ukrainian systems but also those of partner countries," said Vitiuk.

This is despite the fact that thousands of Russian hackers, including cybercriminals hired by Russia, are already working against Ukraine. They are funded by intelligence services, whose research laboratories and institutes help develop cyber tools.

"Their motivation is not hacking for money, but the destruction of our state. And with this approach, other countries will also suffer seriously from Russian cyber aggression," added Vitiuk.
