In Kyiv, rescue workers rescued a woman and a child who had found themselves on a patch of ice in the middle of a body of water in Obolon.
According to Censor.NET, citing the State Emergency Service, at 18:06 a report was received about people on the ice in a bay on Pryrichna Street who required assistance.
Details of the incident
It transpired that during a walk, the girl ran out onto the ice, and her mother hurried to retrieve her. At that moment, a piece of ice broke off, and they began to drift towards the centre of the bay.
Using an airboat, rescuers reached the victims, who were approximately 200 metres from the shore, and brought them to safety. They did not require medical assistance.
Rescuers are urging the public not to venture onto the ice during the thaw and are reminding people of the need to follow safety rules near bodies of water. In the event of an emergency, you should immediately call 101 or 112.
