Air Assault Forces test exoskeletons on front line: first results from Pokrovsk direction. VIDEO

Units of the 7th Corps of Ukraine's Air Assault Forces have begun testing exoskeletons already being used in logistics and directly at combat positions.

As reported by Censor.NET, this was announced by the 7th Corps of the Air Assault Forces.

The test samples have been delivered to the corps' units and are undergoing practical testing in real conditions, in particular in the Pokrovsk direction, where they are being used by troops of the 147th Separate Artillery Brigade.

Details

According to the military, the exoskeletons make it possible to significantly reduce the physical strain on personnel, by up to 30%. At the same time, the maximum movement speed with support reaches up to 20 km/h, while the operating range is as much as 17 km.

The military noted that these indicators are especially important for artillerymen, who work every day in difficult conditions and carry out heavy physical tasks.

According to Colonel Vitalii Serdiuk, chief of the missile forces and artillery department and deputy commander of the 7th Corps of the Air Assault Forces, a positive effect was recorded during the trials.

"Every day, artillerymen endure heavy physical strain. They carry 15 to 30 shells weighing about 50 kg each. Based on the test results, they get less tired, work faster and maintain combat effectiveness longer," he said.

What does this mean

The Air Assault Forces stress that the introduction of exoskeletons is part of the development of the so-called techno-air-assault component. It involves the use of modern technologies to improve the effectiveness of service members and reduce physical strain.

Further trials are expected to make it possible to assess whether such solutions can be scaled up across units of the Defense Forces.

The use of exoskeletons in the military sphere is seen as one of the promising areas of army modernization. Similar technologies are already being tested in various countries for logistics tasks and infantry support.
