No strike force has been detected from Belarus, - State Border Guard Service. VIDEO

No shelling or build-up of strike forces has been reported along the border with Belarus.

This was stated by State Border Guard Service spokesperson Andrii Demchenko during a briefing, according to a Censor.NET correspondent.

Details

According to him, nearly 1,800 UAVs belonging to the Russian occupiers were destroyed last week.

"165 of these were specifically ‘Shahed’ and ‘Gerbera’ type UAVs. The enemy quite frequently uses the Chernihiv and Sumy regions, and occasionally the Kharkiv region, to route these UAVs in from Russian territory.

Quite often, the route for these enemy strike assets is planned so that they fly along the border with Belarus. Quite often, these aircraft subsequently enter Belarusian territory and utilise that country’s airspace," noted the State Border Guard Service spokesperson.

Demchenko believes the Russians are likely hoping that Ukrainian troops will be unable to shoot down the UAVs.

"And they will subsequently be able to penetrate as deep as possible into Ukrainian territory. We frequently record border crossings within the Kyiv and Zhytomyr regions, with further movement towards the western regions," he concluded.

Russia is using Belarus

Demchenko also said that Belarus is installing repeaters and other communication equipment on its territory to boost the signal for Russian drones.

"This makes it as easy as possible for them to move deep into Ukrainian territory. This is one of the demands the President of Ukraine has made of Belarus: that these devices be dismantled," said the spokesperson.

The border with Belarus

The situation is significantly different from that on the border with Russia.

"We have not observed any shelling along this section of the border originating specifically from Belarusian territory. Nor have we observed the build-up of a strike force that would be ready to destabilise the situation along our border or attempt an invasion.

However, according to intelligence reports, pressure from Russia on Belarus, demanding that Belarus become more heavily involved in the war against Ukraine, continues. Our task is to maintain strong defensive positions, carry out engineering works to reinforce the border line and fortifications, and increase the number of mine and explosive barriers along the border with Belarus. All these measures are ongoing," added Demchenko.
