Ukraine continues to bring people back from Russian captivity, including 1,596 people who have already been freed this year.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported this, Censor.NET reports.
Exchanges continue
"We are continuing to bring people back from Russian captivity: today, another 160 servicemen are home. Almost all of them had been in captivity since 2022. Defenders of Mariupol, Azovstal, all of the Donetsk region, and other directions. Zaporizhzhia, Kyiv region, Sumy region. We must return every man and woman — both military and civilian — who are still in Russian captivity," the statement reads.
Zelenskyy emphasized that checks continue regarding every surname. This year, the results are tangible, and exchanges are continuing.
Ukraine’s offensive operations
The president also thanked the team involved in negotiations and every unit that replenishes Ukraine’s exchange pool.
According to Zelenskyy, Ukraine’s offensive activity at the front and the repelling of Russian assaults are also an opportunity to bring Ukrainians back from Russia.
"More than 9,500 people have been returned since the beginning of the full-scale war. This year alone, 1,596 Ukrainian men and women have already been returned. We also expect the next stages. Thank you," he added.
