76th prisoner exchange: among those released are 115 defenders of Mariupol, Coordination Headquarters says. PHOTOS
As part of today’s 76th combined prisoner exchange, 115 defenders of Mariupol returned from Russian captivity.
This was reported by the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War, Censor.NET reports.
Prisoner exchange
As a result of the negotiation process, 160 Ukrainian warriors who had been held in captivity since 2022 were released.
Servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine returned home, including representatives of the Ground Forces, Support Forces, Air Assault Forces, Territorial Defence Forces, Air Force, Medical Forces, Navy, as well as fighters of the National Guard of Ukraine, the State Special Transport Service, and the State Border Guard Service.
They defended the state in the Donetsk, Luhansk, Kharkiv, Chernihiv, Zaporizhzhia, Sumy, and Kyiv directions.
Who was returned
It is noted that among those released were, in particular, 115 defenders of Mariupol.
In addition to soldiers and sergeants, 58 officers were also returned home.
The youngest released Defender is 26 years old. The oldest is 66.
Rehabilitation
"All those released will undergo medical examinations, receive the necessary treatment, payments, and documents, and will be sent for rehabilitation to return to society after prolonged isolation in Russian captivity," the Coordination Headquarters said.
In total, over the period of its activity, the Coordination Headquarters has returned 9,606 military personnel and civilians from captivity.
Background
As a reminder, on 26 June, Ukraine and Russia carried out another POW swap. 160 Ukrainian defenders were freed.
