Today, August 25, an explosion occurred in Pishchanka, Samar district, Dnipropetrovsk region, killing one person and injuring others.
Oleksandr Hanzha, head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration, reported on the current situation following a meeting with law enforcement, rescuers, local authority representatives, and relevant services, Censor.NET reports.
What is known
"I am working in Pishchanka, Samar district, at the scene of a war crime... I heard the reports and set priority tasks," the statement reads.
As of now, one person is known to have been killed by the explosion. Eleven others were injured.
Three private houses were destroyed, and 15 were damaged. People were evacuated from the epicentre of the explosion.
Priority tasks
The head of the Regional Military Administration also spoke with local residents.
- The priority now is to document all the damage and provide people with the necessary assistance.
- I instructed the local authorities to organise the response as quickly as possible. Law enforcement officers were tasked with maintaining order, protecting surviving property and documenting the war crime.
A mobile police headquarters is operating in Pishchanka. People can file reports of damaged property there.
Access to the dangerous area is restricted. Investigators, forensic specialists and all necessary emergency services are working at the scene.
"Everyone has clear tasks. We are working to deal with the consequences of the emergency as quickly as possible and help people," Hanzha emphasised.
Background
Earlier, it was reported that an explosion occurred and a major fire broke out near the city of Samar in the Dnipropetrovsk region during the day on August 25. An evacuation of local residents "from the danger zone" was announced in several settlements.
