The Moscow Court of Appeal has upheld the sentence handed down to Svitlana Loi, a 70-year-old resident of the temporarily occupied city of Tokmak in the Zaporizhzhia region. The occupation court had sentenced her to 15 years’ imprisonment for assisting the Ukrainian army.
According to Censor.NET, the appeal hearing was held behind closed doors, and journalists and members of the public were only allowed into the courtroom when the verdict was announced.
According to the Russian prosecution, between January and November 2024, the pensioner used a Ukrainian bank’s mobile app to make 24 transfers of her own pension funds in support of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The total amount of the donations was 63,420 Russian roubles (equivalent in hryvnia).
As a reminder, in February 2026, an occupation court in the Zaporizhzhia region found the woman guilty of " high treason" and sentenced her to 15 years in a general-regime prison. Before the harsh sentence was announced, Svitlana Loi began singing "The Song of the Towel" in the courtroom, with lyrics by Andrii Malyshko.
