The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, has confirmed that the Defence Forces have carried out successful strikes on military targets on Russian territory.
This was reported by Censor.NET, citing a post by Zelenskyy on Telegram.
Long-range strikes against Russia
According to him, our long-range responses operate at various ranges and on different fronts, but are always proportionate and designed to deprive Russia of the resources needed to wage its brutal war.
Zelenskyy emphasised that overnight, the Ukrainian Defence Forces struck storage, preparation and launch sites for attack drones in the Oryol and Rostov regions. Strikes were carried out on a military airfield in Yeysk and in the Black Sea.
"Our troops also carried out long-range strikes on an oil refinery in the Leningrad region, which contributes millions of dollars to the military budget every month. Effective long-range operations over the past week have also been confirmed, notably against targets in Bashkortostan and the Arkhangelsk region," the Head of State noted.
He also emphasised that Russia must feel every day that the war is returning to where it came from.
Sanctions pressure from partners
"And it is important that our long-range impact is complemented by new sanctions measures from our partners against Russian military infrastructure. The vast majority of the means by which the aggressor is terrorising Ukrainian cities and communities simply cannot function without thousands upon thousands of foreign components, chemicals and machine tools. We are constantly providing our partners with details regarding Russian schemes to circumvent sanctions. I am grateful to everyone who is helping to shut them down," Zelenskyy concluded.
What led up to this?
- It was previously reported that drones had attacked the Leningrad region: one of Russia’s largest oil refineries – "Kirishinefteorgsintez" – is believed to be on fire.
- It was also noted that drones had attacked a military airfield in the town of Yeysk in the Krasnodar Krai.
