Only 27% of Simferopol Residents Identify Themselves as Russian Citizens

According to a poll by the Regional Institute of Political Communications, only 27.2% of the inhabitants of the occupied Simferopol consider themselves Russian citizens.

Censor.NET citing Radio Liberty reports that these are the results of the study "Social Well-Being and Values of Simferopol Residents. Election Situation" performed by the Regional Institute of Political Communications.

The survey shows that another 48.1% of people of Simferopol identify themselves as primarily Crimean residents, while 17.3% - as residents of Simferopol. 3.7% of respondents found it difficult to answer.

With regard to the upcoming elections, which will take place in Crimea on September 14, 25.3% of the respondents in Simferopol are expecting resolution of major social and economic problems of the peninsula. Another 24.3% of Simferopol are expecting higher living standards and 22.4% expect to see new faces among the authorities. More than half of the people (51.4%) do not expect to improve the welfare of their families after the elections to the so-called "State Council." Another 33.8% of Simferopol residents of Simferopol hope that the well-being of their families will improve and 7.8% of the respondents, on the contrary, are expecting deterioration of their well-being.

The Regional Institute of Political Communications that conducted the poll is considered a pro-government organization loyal to Crimea's current government.
