Russian language was excluded from public school curriculum in Kyiv

According to a draft decision, organizational and legal actions aimed at transition of groups and classes from Russian to Ukrainian are to be taken.
As informs Censor.NЕТ, the corresponding decision was supported by 94 deputies of the Kyiv City Council, as it's reported on the institution's website.
"In the context of the war with the Russian Federation, it is inappropriate and incorrect to conduct the educational process and study of the Russian language in pre-school and general secondary education institutions that belong to the communal property of the territorial community of Kyiv," the deputies say.
Chairman of the Permanent Commission on Education and Science, Family, Youth and Sports Vadym Vasylchuk reminded that the Russians have repeatedly stated that "Russia reaches as far as the Russian language is spread".
"In this regard, the deputy corps of the Kyiv City Council made a decision that will allow to avoid the escalation of tension in society and strengthen the protection of the educational space of Kyiv from the hybrid influences of the aggressor state.
Language matters, and in time of war it is a matter of national security," Vasylchuk said.
Earlier, the KCSA reported that Russian would not be taught in Kyiv schools even as an optional subject.
Russian was also stopped to be taught in public schools of Zhytomyr and Mykolaiv.
