In Berlin, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany Olaf Scholz signed a joint declaration on Germany’s support for the work of the NATO-Ukraine Commission and Germany’s readiness to provide assistance to Ukraine for as long as necessary.

This is stated in the text of the declaration published on the website of the President of Ukraine, Censor.NET reports.

"Germany will continue to provide political, financial, humanitarian and military support to Ukraine for as long as it is needed - individually and through international cooperation within the European Union, the G7, NATO, the UN and other formats," the declaration says.

It is also noted that Germany supports Ukraine's initiative for a just and sustainable peace and is ready to cooperate with Ukraine to ensure the widest possible international participation in the implementation of the Ukrainian peace formula at the Global Peace Summit.

Ukraine and Germany have demonstrated their firm commitment to bringing to justice those responsible for war crimes and other atrocities committed during Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine.

In particular, it emphasises the need to maintain and increase collective pressure on Russia and those who support its military efforts by imposing further sanctions.

Germany has also declared its support for Ukraine in reforming and fulfilling the requirements necessary to start negotiations on EU accession.

"Germany supports the NATO-Ukraine Commission as a platform for further strengthening and expanding the partnership between NATO and Ukraine on its path set out in the Bucharest Declaration (which states that Ukraine should become a NATO member - Ed.), thus contributing to our common interests in ensuring Euro-Atlantic peace, stability and security. Ukraine and Germany look forward to addressing these issues at the NATO Summit in Vilnius in July 2023," the declaration says.

To recap, Zelensky signed a similar declaration with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.
