Ukraine has a chance to join NATO before end of war - Volker

Ukraine’s accession to the North Atlantic Alliance is not ruled out even before the war in the country ends.
Former U.S. Special Representative for Ukraine Kurt Volker said this during a briefing in Odesa, reports Censor.NЕТ with reference to Ukrinform.
"As for whether Ukraine can join NATO before the war is over, we should look at Germany, which joined NATO as a divided country when the eastern part of Germany was under Soviet occupation," Volker said.
He suggested that Ukraine's accession to NATO could take place before the war is over. Perhaps Article 5 will be applied only to those territories that will be under Kyiv's control at the time of accession, Volker suggested.
"How and when the war will end is unknown. It may be something similar to what is happening in Korea. Korea is divided into two parts, North and South, and is still at war," the former US State Department official added.
