To join EU, Ukraine must put an end to "30 years of nepotism and corruption".

This was stated by German Foreign Minister Annelena Baerbock, Censor.NET reports citing DW.

"Our goal is to rebuild Ukraine so that it is suitable for the EU," Baerbock was quoted as saying by dpa. The focus of this year's discussions is on encouraging private companies to invest in Ukraine, which has suffered from Russian aggression. At the same time, according to Baerbock, the conference on rebuilding Ukraine to be held in Germany in 2024 will focus on the country's accession to the EU.

In London, the minister also announced that Germany would provide an additional €416 million in humanitarian aid to Ukraine, including generators, food and tents. "We are helping Ukraine to invest in renewable energy and energy efficiency," Burbock said, adding that this way Ukraine's reconstruction can be green and therefore long-lasting and sustainable.

At the same time, the German foreign minister stressed that in order to join the EU, Ukraine must put an end to "30 years of nepotism and corruption". She acknowledged Ukraine's "incredibly rapid" progress in reform efforts in the areas of media and the rule of law, but stressed the need for further progress.

At the same time, the minister expressed her belief that Ukraine will join the EU, and called investments in its reconstruction "strengthening the European internal market, especially in terms of clean energy".
