Russia likely to increase number of fighting dolphins in Sevastopol, - British intelligence

Russia has recently strengthened the protection of the Black Sea Fleet base in occupied Sevastopol and is recruiting bottlenose dolphins for protection.

This is stated in the report of British intelligence, Censor.NET informs.

"Since the summer of 2022, the Russian Navy has invested significant funds in strengthening the security of the Black Sea Fleet's main base in Sevastopol. The combat dolphins are designed to counter divers," the message says.

British intelligence added that the measures include at least four layers of nets and boom barriers at the entrance to the harbor. In recent weeks, this defense has likely also been strengthened by an increase in the number of trained marine mammals.

"You can see in the pictures that the number of floating mammal pens in the harbor has almost doubled. They are most likely bottlenose dolphins.
In the Arctic, the fleet also uses belugas and seals. Russia uses trained animals for various tasks. Those stationed in the port of Sevastopol are most likely there to counter enemy divers," the report notes.
