Creation of Ukraine-NATO Council is actually resolved issue, - Duda

The transformation of the Ukraine-NATO Commission into the Ukraine-NATO Council is, in fact, a resolved issue.

This was stated by the President of Poland Andrzej Duda in an interview with Ukrainian TV channels during the telethon, Censor.NET reports with reference to Interfax-Ukraine.

"The fact that the proposal will be adopted by the entire alliance, and the Ukraine-NATO committee will be transformed into the Ukraine-NATO Council, is already a practically resolved issue.
The Council will be a much stronger structure from the point of view of Ukraine's ability to mobilize NATO in a situation when it is needed," he said.

Duda emphasized that Ukraine's position in relations with NATO as a partner state of the alliance will become much stronger thanks to this.

"But, of course, from my point of view as the president of Poland, who wishes Ukraine all the best, it would be much better to formally invite Ukraine to join NATO.
That is, if Ukraine, as a result of the decision of the nearest summit, had already started this final stage of joining NATO. This does not yet mean joining NATO. It is not so much a light as a beacon that shows the end of the path to the alliance," he emphasized.

Duda also noted that today many allies are skeptical about this issue.

"But I am firmly convinced that this demand of the Ukrainian authorities, President Volodymyr Zelenskyi, that this impulse for Ukraine, which goes from NATO to Ukraine, should be very strong, clear. So that it is not a repetition of what happened many years ago in Bucharest. And I agree that Ukraine today needs a much stronger signal. I hope that this signal will be generated," Duda said.

It will be recalled that the Pentagon, commenting on Ukraine's potential accession to NATO, stated that Ukraine would have its own way of joining the Alliance.
