The Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights, Dmytro Lubinets, said that Russia had executed two Ukrainian teenagers, Tigran Ohannisyan and Mykyta Khanganov, extrajudicially in Berdiansk. Lubinets contacted the Red Cross when Russia opened a case against them and they were still alive.

He said this during a telethon, Censor.NET reports.

Lubinets provided more details about the teenagers, as the media had different information about their deaths - some said that the boys had died in a shootout, while others said that the Russians had killed them earlier in the detention center.

"At the moment, the only thing we know is that the guys died. According to my information, it was an execution, and perhaps there was some kind of staging to justify the actions of the Russian military," he added.

Lubinets said that after receiving information from the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation about the suspicions of the teenagers of allegedly trying to carry out a sabotage on the railway line, there were immediate appeals "through various channels to Russia to, firstly, provide us with all the information about them, and, secondly, to return the Ukrainian children home to Ukraine". There was also an urgent appeal to the ICRC, but they stated that they did not have access to the so-called Berdiansk, so they could not fulfill their mandate.

"The bodies were not given to the relatives of the deceased boys. For my part, I officially appealed to Moskalkova (Tatyana Moskalkova - Russian Ombudsman - Ed.) via the communication channel to have the bodies returned to their relatives in Ukraine," Lubinets said.
