Russian group numbers more than 100 thousand people in Lyman-Kupiansk sector - Cherevaty

An enemy group of more than 100,000 personnel, more than 900 tanks, and 370 multiple launch rocket systems is operating in the Lyman-Kupiansk direction. These are the forces that the USSR used during the war in Afghanistan.
This was announced by the speaker of the Eastern Group of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Serhiy Cherevaty during a telethon, reports Censor.NЕТ with reference to RBC-Ukraine.
"For the sake of understanding, at the peak of the number of Soviet troops in Afghanistan, there were 120,000. That is, this is the last war that Ukrainians could remember before this great war. And there are more than 100,000 opposing Ukrainian soldiers," Cherevaty said.
He clarified that the enemy has concentrated airborne troops, the best motorized infantry units, the army combat reserve, territorial troops, PMCs, and assault companies in the Liman-Kupyansk direction.
They are trying to break through the defense, but the Ukrainian Armed Forces are holding the initiative and delivering constant attacks.
"During this day, the enemy fired at us 543 times with various systems and artillery, carried out 14 air raids, and 7 assaults. In the course of defense, 40 occupants were killed and 103 were wounded. We also destroyed 3 tanks, 4 infantry fighting vehicles, an Msta-B cannon, a mortar and 2 drones," Cherevaty added.
Earlier, he reported that the Russian invaders are trying to maintain their positions near Bakhmut, so they are constantly bringing reserves there.
