According to Bloomberg, the European Union will begin consultations with member countries in the coming days on a new package of sanctions against the Russian Federation.

This is reported by Censor.NET with reference to RBK-Ukraine.

The new package, which will be the 12th since Russia invasion, may include a ban on supplies of Russian diamonds, further limiting Moscow's ability to circumvent sanctions and inclusion in the list of companies in third countries that help Russia in this, the agency's interlocutors said on condition of anonymity.

The EU is working with the G7 to create a mechanism to track diamond movements across borders, overcoming fears that any ban would simply lead to trade being diverted to other countries.

The EU is also expected to expand the list of banned goods that Russia can use for military purposes. The main focus of the European Union and its allies was aimed at thwarting the Kremlin's efforts to acquire the most important goods necessary for the creation and supply of weapons, and as part of this effort, they sought to exert diplomatic pressure on third countries that help the Russian Federation.

It should be noted that the 11th package of EU sanctions against Russia entered into force on June 23 this year.
