Commander of 128th Assault Brigade suspended for investigation - Zelenskyy
The commander of the 128th Separate Mountain Assault Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was suspended for the duration of the investigation.
This was announced in a video message by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Censor.NET informs.
"I held a meeting of the Staff. The first issue is the tragedy with the soldiers of our 128th Separate Mountain Assault Brigade. The military, the Minister of Defense, and the head of the Security Service of Ukraine reported. Concreteness — what has already been determined by the circumstances of the tragedy, whose orders created the conditions for the tragedy to occur. In particular, the Chief Inspector of the Ministry of Defense Voronchenko reported.
The Brigade Commander was suspended for the duration of the investigation. The whole situation is resolved minute by minute. And it will be established who specifically violated the rules for the safety of people in the area of access to the enemy's aerial reconnaissance. There is no avoiding responsibility," Zelenskyy said.
As reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, "During the official investigation into the fact of the death of personnel on 03.11.2023, the Commander of the 128th Separate Mountain-Assault Brigade was removed from his duties by the decision of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine."
As Censor.NET previously reported, on November 4, a tragedy occurred in the 128th Brigade - the occupiers struck Ukrainian servicemen in one of the frontline villages of the Zaporizhzhia region during the formation for the presentation of awards on the occasion of the Day of Missile Forces and Artillery.
A three-day mourning for the fallen soldiers has been announced in Zakarpattia region.
The 128th brigade confirmed the death of 19 soldiers due to a Russian missile strike.
