Zelenskyy changed personnel of State Council and National Security and Defense Council

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has made changes to the National Security and Defence Council (NSDC) and the Supreme Commander-in-Chief’s Staff.

This was reported by Censor.NET with reference to the relevant decrees.

For example, according to Decree No. 67/2024 of 9 February, Zelenskyy appointed Oleksandr Syrskyi, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, to the Staff, and removed former Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valeriy Zaluzhnyi from the Staff.

By Decree No. 68/2024 of 9 February, Zelenskyy appointed Syrskyi to the NSDC, and removed Zaluzhnyi and former Veterans Affairs Minister Yulia Laputina from the NSDC.

Zaluzhnyi's resignation

On 8 February, Zelenskyy and Zaluzhnyi met. Following the meeting, Zelenskyy said that he had offered Zaluzhnyi to join his team. After the meeting, Zaluzhnyi said that it had been decided that it was necessary to change approaches and strategy.

Zelenskyy signed a decree dismissing Zaluzhnyi. He appointed Colonel-General Syrskyi as Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
