Hungary’s Foreign Minister Szijjarto meets with Lavrov in US: they talked about Ukraine

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto met in the United States.
The meeting was reported by the press service of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Censor.NET reports, with reference to European Pravda.
The Russians said that the meeting took place "on the sidelines" of a high-level political forum on sustainable development.
It is noted that Szijjártó and Lavrov discussed "the progress of the implementation of the agreements" reached by Russian dictator Vladimir Putin and Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban on July 5 in Moscow. At the meeting, according to the Russian Foreign Ministry, the head of Hungarian diplomacy discussed Ukraine with Lavrov.
"We exchanged views on current international issues, including the situation around Ukraine. The inadmissibility of Kyiv's gross violation of the rights of national minorities living in the country was emphasized," the Russian Foreign Ministry wrote.
They add that "despite the extremely difficult international situation," Hungary and Russia's cooperation continues to "develop progressively."
Szijjártó and Lavrov reaffirmed "the importance of implementing major joint economic projects, including significant areas of energy cooperation."
The sanctioned Lavrov arrived in the United States as Russia currently holds the presidency of the UN Security Council. On Tuesday, Russia convened a meeting in the Security Council on "Multilateral cooperation for a more just, democratic and sustainable world order." Szijjarto was the only EU minister to attend the meeting.
Earlier it was reported that Hungary was the only EU country that did not sign the joint statement of fifty states condemning Russia in the UN Security Council.
