Hungary’s position annoys other EU members, - Sikorski

Радослав Сікорський

Currently, Hungary feels more and more isolated within the EU, its position frankly irritates other members of the European Union.

This was stated by the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of Poland, Radoslaw Sikorski, in an interview with Visegrad Insight, informs Censor.NET with reference to RBC-Ukraine.

Як розповів голова відомства, під час останнього засідання Ради ЄС у закордонних справах Угорщина не отримала підтримки своєї позиції.

Not only that, they (Hungarians. - Ed.) look isolated when it is they who are asking for solidarity with Europe in the issue of oil supplies. They do not receive this solidarity, because it is difficult to make friends if someone radiates selfishness," said the head of the Polish Foreign Ministry.

According to Sikorski, during the meeting of the Council of the EU, the issue of where one of the meetings of foreign ministers during the Hungarian presidency will be held: in Budapest or in Brussels was also raised. The Polish minister, in turn, proposed to hold a meeting in Ukraine as a compromise.

"I proposed as a compromise that it be held in Ukraine - either in Lviv, or even in Mukachevo, which was met with enthusiasm by the Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs at first. And let me remind you that a precedent was already set two years ago, when this meeting of the Council took place in Kyiv." - explained Sikorsky.
