Commander of military unit, Lieutenant Colonel of Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleh Pihulevskyi, died defending Ukraine at front

Lieutenant Colonel Oleh Pihulevskyi, commander of a separate rifle battalion of a separate mechanised brigade of the Army Corps of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, was killed in the fighting for Ukraine.

According to Censor.NET, this was reported by the Volodarska village territorial community of the Bila Tserkva district of Kyiv region.

It is noted that Oleh Pihulevskyi was born on 1 July 1972 in the village of Horodyshche-Pustovarivske.

In 1990, he entered the Novosibirsk Higher General Military Command School, successfully graduating in 1994 with the rank of lieutenant. From 1998 to 2004, he served in the Armed Forces of Ukraine in various positions, including Chief of Staff of the Reconnaissance Battalion of the 72nd Mechanised Division.

In March 2022, Oleh Pihulevskyi was called up for military service under mobilisation as a commander of a separate rifle battalion. In a short time, he formed the battalion and from 1 April 2022, he supervised the occupation of the battalion defence area and its equipment as part of the Kyiv Defence Force Grouping.

Starting from 2023, he led the actions of the battalion's units and directly participated in the defence of Klishchiivka, Bakhmut district, Donetsk region. Later, he organised the defence of Kupiansk. On 31.01.2023, while performing his duties near the village of Dvorichna, he sustained a concussion, but remained in service.

On 2 August, 2024, he died during a combat mission near the village of Novohrodivka, Pokrovsk district, Donetsk region, courageously performing his military duty in the battle for Ukraine, its freedom and independence. The hero is survived by his mother, wife, daughter and son, two granddaughters.
