Guterres to Putin: Russian invasion of Ukraine is violation of UN Charter

During the BRICS summit in Kazan, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres told Russian dictator Vladimir Putin that the Russian invasion of Ukraine is a violation of the UN Charter and international law.
As Censor.NET informs, this is stated in the official press release of the UN.
According to the press service, the UN Secretary-General condemned the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation in Ukraine during a personal conversation with Putin, which took place on the sidelines of the summit after Guterres made a speech calling for a "just peace" in Ukraine.
During the same speech, the UN Secretary-General did not comment on the violation of international law by the Russian Federation. He mentioned the war in Ukraine only in the context of listing ongoing international conflicts, among other challenges he mentioned for the world community.
During the conversation with Putin, the UN Secretary-General also "expressed his conviction that the establishment of freedom of navigation in the Black Sea is of primary importance for Ukraine, the Russian Federation, and for the food and energy security of the world," according to the UN press release. Guterres called for "continuation of negotiations in this direction". Officially, they have not been conducted since the Russian Federation withdrew from the "grain agreement" in the summer of 2023.
It will be recalled that the European Union hopes that during his stay in Kazan at the BRICS summit, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres will call on the Russian dictator Vladimir Putin to "completely and without additional conditions stop the brutal aggression against Ukraine."
