Negotiations with Russia are "necessary part" of ending war in Ukraine - US vice presidential candidate Vance

US Republican vice presidential candidate Senator J.D. Vance refused to call Russian dictator Vladimir Putin an "enemy" and called for negotiations with Russia, which are "necessary" to end the war in Ukraine.
He said this in an interview with NBC News, Censor.NET reports.
When asked whether he considered Putin an ally or an enemy, Trump's associate said that he was a competitor.
"I think he is clearly an adversary. He is a competitor. But I think we also have to be smart about diplomacy. Just because we don't like someone, it doesn't mean we can't engage in a conversation with them from time to time," Vance said.
The Republican vice-presidential candidate believes that sooner or later the US will have to negotiate between Ukraine, Russia and NATO allies in Europe.
According to him, negotiations with Russia are "simply a necessary part" of ending the war.
"I think it's important that if we ever want to end the war in Ukraine, fundamentally, at some level, we have to engage in some negotiations between Ukraine, between Russia, between our NATO allies in Europe. And this is just a necessary part," Vance added.
Earlier, Republican vice presidential candidate Senator J.D. Vance spoke out about the war in Ukraine, saying that "we need to believe in peace and we need to bring peace to this region of the world".
