Trump could be useful for Ukraine if he doesn’t see Kyiv as obstacle to peace - Politico

The US Republican Party believes that Donald Trump may be a better option for Ukraine than Kamala Harris. However, Ukrainians will have to show political flexibility to get the most out of the assistance.
This was written by Politico, Censor.NET reports.
A Republican expert, speaking on condition of anonymity, said: "In the best case scenario, Harris would have kept Joe Biden's approach - it would have been her policy, and it would have led to the slow death of Ukraine. And this death is not so slow - the pace of Russia's gains is accelerating."
Another example cited by the source of the publication is that Harris would have won and the Republicans would have controlled one or both houses of Congress.
"Under those conditions, Harris would not have been able to get additional aid through Congress. Now, with Trump, he can snap his fingers and the Republicans in the House of Representatives will vote for additional aid to Ukraine," he added.
Trump will not give up
According to him, Trump is not going to give up. He wants to end the war, but does not plan to deprive Ukraine of weapons and supplies at this stage. He understands that the collapse of Ukraine would mean that Putin would dictate the conditions in the negotiations.
"Trump has a vested interest in this," the Republican said.
He explained that Trump prides himself on being a master negotiator and doesn't want to be seen with a terrible deal. And during his phone conversations with Zelenskyy and their recent meeting in New York, "he instilled some confidence" in the Ukrainian leader that he would not abandon Ukraine.
What should Ukraine do?
"Ukrainians must do everything to prevent Trump from perceiving them as an obstacle to peace, and they must not be the first to say 'no', even when they are approached with stupid ideas. They should make the Russians say 'no' all the time, so that the Ukrainians look like the reasonable party. Then Trump will conclude that the only way to get the Russians to the negotiating table is to help the Ukrainians," the expert said.
The publication noted that Trump does not have a detailed plan yet, and opinions among his advisers differ.
