Parliament abolished confiscation of property from corrupt officials who made plea deals. Ukrainian government has blatantly flaked out EU, - Shabunin.

The confiscation of property of corrupt officials who made a deal with the investigation was abolished by the law on depriving collaborators of state awards.
The head of the AntAC Vitalii Shabunin wrote about this on Facebook, Censor.NET reports.
Thus, as he notes, this important part of the reform lasted as long as 20 days with the investigation. Shabunin also recalls that this was part of the requirements for receiving €4 billion from the EU.
"Nevertheless, the money was received, and after that the Ukrainian authorities stupidly flaked out Europeans. Let me remind you that the bill to deprive collaborators of state awards was introduced by the president. However, I don't think he is the author of the betrayal of the Europeans.
But Zelenskyi is politically responsible for the people who definitely saw this problem, but deliberately left it out of the text. And it doesn't matter whether it's the head of the relevant Rada committee, Ionushas, or Yermak's deputy, Tatarov," Shabunin said.
"Or perhaps I am mistaken, and this was planned from the beginning: to hide a corruption scheme within a socially significant draft law (on stripping collaborators of state awards). If this is indeed a fraudulent move by corrupt officials, including the president, then MPs will correct the mistake in the near future and punish the schemers. However, if everything remains as it is, it means this was intentional from the start and was a deliberate betrayal of the European Union (without whose financial support we will lose)," emphasizes the head of the Anti-Corruption Action Center.
He also provides legal details:
On 29.10.2024, the Verkhovna Rada adopted Law No. 4033-IX, which supplements Article 77 of the Criminal Code with Part 2, according to which, in case of a plea bargain with the investigation (in corruption offences), a punishment in the form of confiscation of property may be imposed (comes into force on 01.11.2024).
On 20.11.2024, the Rada adopts Law No. 4074-IX, which comes into force on 21.11.2024, which restates Article 77 in a new wording - WITHOUT part 2 on the possibility of confiscation of corrupt officials' property (comes into force on 20.11.2024).
As a result, Part 2 of Article 77, which provided for the possibility of confiscation of property in case of a deal with the investigation (in corruption offences), remained in force for 20 days - from 01.11.2024 to 20.11.2024.
