Lavrov: Russia is ready to do anything to avoid strategic defeat

Russia is ready to do anything to avoid a strategic defeat

Russia is ready to use all possible means in the war against Ukraine to avoid a "strategic defeat".

According to Censor.NET, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said this in an interview with American journalist Tucker Carlson.

According to him, the strike with the "Oreshnik" ballistic missile is a direct "message to the United States and its allies", which continue to supply Ukraine with long-range weapons.

"We will be ready to use any means to prevent them from succeeding in what they call Russia's strategic defeat," Lavrov said.

The Russian minister also spoke about the US position, accusing Washington of fighting for "hegemony over the world", while Russia, in his opinion, is defending its "legitimate security interests".

Lavrov also mentioned that the West had allegedly refused to discuss "security guarantees for Russia" before the full-scale invasion, and accused Ukraine of twice rejecting proposals to preserve its territorial integrity.

"We did not start this war. For years and years, we have been sending warnings that NATO's pushing closer and closer to our borders would create a problem," Lavrov said.

As a reminder, on 5 December, before Lavrov's speech at the OSCE meeting, Sybiha and some foreign ministers walked out of the room to protest Russia's actions.
