Zelenskyy awarded title of Hero of Ukraine to former mayor of Uman, commander of machine gun platoon of 58th Separate Mechanised Infantry Brigade Oleksandr Tsebrii (posthumously)
By his decree, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine (posthumously) to the former mayor of Uman, commander of the machine gun platoon of the 58th Separate Mechanised Infantry Brigade, who died in a battle against the occupiers on 24 July 2024.
According to Censor.NET, this is stated in Presidential Decree No. 818/2024.
"For personal courage and heroism displayed in the defence of state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, selfless service to the Ukrainian people, I hereby decree: To award the title of Hero of Ukraine with the Order of the 'Golden Star' to Oleksandr Volodymyrovych Tsebrii, Junior Sergeant (posthumously)," the Decree reads.
Earlier, it was reported that President Volodymyr Zelenskyy was asked to award the title of Hero of Ukraine (posthumously) to the former mayor of Uman, commander of the machine gun platoon of the 58th Separate Mechanised Infantry Brigade, Oleksandr Tsebrii.
On 24 July 2024, he was killed while performing a combat mission in the Donetsk region. He was 50 years old.
On 27 July, Tsebrii was buried in Uman.
