Orban says he proposed Christmas truce between Ukraine and Russia, but Zelenskyy allegedly rejected his idea

Orban says he offered truce to Ukraine and Russia

Hungarian Prime Minister Victor Orban said he had proposed that Ukraine and Russia make a Christmas truce and a large-scale POWs exchange.

The politician wrote about this on the social media platform X, commenting on Zelenskyy's criticism of his call to Russian dictator Putin, Censor.NET reports.

Orban said that Budapest, at the end of the Hungarian presidency of the EU Council, decided to make new efforts to "achieve peace".

"We proposed a Christmas ceasefire and a large-scale prisoner exchange," the Hungarian prime minister said.

The politician claims that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has allegedly rejected this idea.

"It's sad that President Zelenskyy clearly rejected and ruled this out today. We did what we could," Orban added.

Earlier it was reported that Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, after meeting with US President-elect Donald Trump, had a telephone conversation with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin.

It should also be noted that the day before, Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto announced the continuation of the "peacekeeping mission" for Ukraine.
