Ukraine will have additional chance to bring just peace closer after Trump’s inauguration, - Sybiha

Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha is convinced that immediately after the inauguration of the 47th President-elect Donald Trump on 20 January, Ukraine will have additional opportunities to bring a just peace closer.

Sybiha said this during a public discussion, Censor.NET reports citing LB.ua.

The minister was asked whether he personally believes that peace will come to Ukraine on 21 January.

21 January will be the day after the inauguration of Donald Trump, who promised during the election campaign to end the war between Russia and Ukraine "in 24 hours".

According to Sybiha, he sees an "additional chance" for peace.

I am convinced that we will get an additional chance, additional opportunities to bring a just peace to Ukraine. I am convinced of this," the minister said.

Sybiha also commented separately on the peace proposals that appear in the media as options for the future US president to take regarding Ukraine.

The foreign minister noted that official proposals may appear only after 20 January.

"As of now, we need to treat any documents, non-papers, ideas voiced by different voices in different media without unnecessary emotions. Here we can rely on the fact that this is a test of the reaction of both the world and Ukraine," the Foreign Minister added.

Earlier, US President-elect Donald Trump said that he wanted to reach a peace agreement between Ukraine and Russia and planned to put pressure on Russia.

He also considers the war in Ukraine a higher priority than the conflict in the Middle East.
