Orban to Zelenskyy: "There is ceasefire proposal on table, take it or leave it"
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has commented on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's statement that he has no leverage over Russian dictator Vladimir Putin.
Orban wrote about this on the social network X, Censor.NET reports.
The Hungarian prime minister responded to Zelenskyy's statement, who had criticized Orban for attempts to "mediate" in Russia's war against Ukraine, emphasizing that he had no leverage over the Kremlin leader.
We will not respond to any provocations. There is a ceasefire proposal on the table. Take it or leave it. It is your responsibility," Orban said.
What preceded it?
Tensions between Ukraine and Hungary escalated after Viktor Orban called Russian dictator Vladimir Putin last week.
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said that he had proposed that Ukraine and Russia make a Christmas truce and a large-scale prisoner exchange.
Zelenskyy's advisor Dmytro Lytvyn said that the Hungarian side had not discussed any such proposals with Ukraine.
The Kremlin said that Russia, in response to Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban's initiative to hold a "Christmas truce" and exchange prisoners between Russia and Ukraine, had allegedly passed its proposals to Budapest, but ’Kyiv rejected the idea."
