SSU: Traitor, who robbed civilians of Kherson region together with occupiers, is convicted

Traitor who helped occupiers in Kherson region convicted in Ternopil

A Ternopil court has sentenced a collaborator from Donbas who helped the Russian occupiers establish a regime in the Kherson region, robbed civilians and detained pro-Ukrainian citizens.

This was reported by Censor.NET with reference to the SSU press center.

The offender, who voluntarily defected to the enemy in March 2022, joined the DNR terrorist organization and later became a member of the illegal armed groups of the Russian occupation forces. As part of them, he participated in the capture of settlements on the left bank of the Kherson region.

During his duties at checkpoints near the village of Kniaze-Hryhorivka, he detained pro-Ukrainian citizens and engaged in robberies, forcibly taking valuables and food from local residents.

The Ternopil City District Court found the offender guilty under two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:

  • p. 2, Art. 111 (high treason committed under martial law);
  • p. 7 Art. 111-1 (collaboration).

He was sentenced to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property and a 14-year ban on holding public office.

Since the traitor is hiding in the temporarily occupied territory, the court held the trial under a special procedure "in absentia" (in the absence of the accused). The term of his sentence will be calculated from the moment of his detention.

Law enforcement officers continue search operations to bring the offender to actual responsibility.
