Government allowed to exempt clergy from mobilization - media

The Cabinet of Ministers has amended the Procedure for exempting persons liable for military service for the period of mobilization and wartime. From now on, priests will be able to be exempted from mobilization.
This was reported by Censor.NET with reference to the Judicial and Legal Newspaper.
The government made the relevant changes on December 26 by Resolution No. 1498.
Thus, clergymen are subject to an exemption according to the list of positions approved by the State Service of Ukraine for Ethnic Policy and Freedom of Conscience ("SSUEPFC").
Thus, clergymen were equated with the ultimate beneficial owners of critical enterprises, members of supervisory boards and employees of foreign diplomatic missions, etc.
The Cabinet of Ministers also amended the law to include legal entities - religious organizations - as critical to the functioning of the economy and the livelihoods of the population.
Thus, they were equated with representative offices of donor agencies and implementers of international technical assistance projects.
"Clergymen, as well as prosthetists, orthotists, prosthetic technicians, prosthetic technologists, prosthetic engineers, and mechanics of prosthetic and orthopedic products will not be subject to the exemption restrictions," the publication explains.
At the same time, priests are not subject to the salary requirement, which is currently 20 thousand for critical enterprises whose employees can be exempted.
At the same time, the deferral will be canceled if the clergyman is dismissed.
