Zelenskyy on Poland’s presidency of EU Council: We hope for tangible progress in negotiations on Ukraine’s accession to EU

Volodymyr Zelenskyy

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy congratulated Poland on its presidency of the EU Council and expressed confidence that the Polish presidency would make Europe stronger.

Zelenskyy wrote about this on the social network X, Censor.NET reports.

According to him, Ukraine is ready for fruitful cooperation for the sake of our common development - all the peoples of Europe, as well as security - both ours in Ukraine and every European nation.

"This morning, after the attack by Russian attack drones, we once again point to key priorities. The defense potential of Europe needs to be constantly strengthened. Only through strength can we really force Russia to peace. Our interaction on the continent and integration processes require greater efficiency in implementing decisions. We hope for tangible progress in negotiations on Ukraine's accession to the EU. And the social life of European peoples needs a greater sense of justice, and thanks to a rational policy, Europe is able to provide this," Zelenskyy said.

On Wednesday, January 1, 2025, Poland officially assumed the presidency of the Council of the European Union, which will last six months, until June 30.
