Europe is in difficult situation due to termination of Russian gas transit through Ukraine, - Sijjarto

Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto said that Ukraine allegedly put the EU in a difficult economic situation by stopping the transit of Russian gas through its territory.
This was reported by Censor.NET with reference to ZN.ua.
According to him, now "even the most fanatical Brussels residents" cannot deny that gas prices have risen.
"The rise in European natural gas prices has been largely caused by measures that artificially reduce the amount of natural gas, such as the elimination of certain sources of natural gas through sanctions or policies, as well as the blocking of certain transportation routes," the minister said.
The Hungarian foreign minister said that the event that allegedly led to the recent price increase was the fact that Ukraine stopped the transit of Russian gas through its territory to Central Europe.
As a result, gas prices in Europe increased by 20 percent, Sijjarto said.
"So while Ukraine is trying to join the EU as a candidate for membership, with its latest decision it has again put the European economy in a difficult situation," the minister added.
Stopping Russian gas transit
As a reminder, at 07:00 on January 1, 2025, the transportation of Russian natural gas through Ukraine was stopped in the interests of national security.
The Cabinet of Ministers said that Ukraine had duly informed the European Commission about the termination of gas transit. European countries are prepared.
