Greenland may become independent, but not US state, - Danish Foreign Minister Rasmussen responds to Trump’s statements

Greenland can become independent if its residents want it, but it will not be a US state.
This was stated by Danish Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen, commenting on the recent statements of US President-elect Donald Trump regarding Greenland, Reuters reports, Censor.NET informs .
"We fully recognize that Greenland has its own ambitions. If they are realized, Greenland will become independent, although it is unlikely that it has ambitions to become a federal state within the United States," the diplomat said.
Rasmussen noted that the US concern about security in the Arctic is justified due to the increased activity of Russia and China in the region.
"I don't think we have a foreign policy crisis. We are open to a dialogue with the Americans on how we can work even more closely together to ensure that American ambitions are realized," the Danish Foreign Minister added.
