Coordination Center on the exchange of prisoners on January 15

During today's exchange, 25 seriously ill and wounded prisoners were returned to Ukraine.

This was reported by the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War, Censor.NET reports.

It is noted that all the released soldiers are soldiers, sailors and sergeants. They were defending the Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, Donetsk directions, the city of Mariupol, including Azovstal. Among the returnees is also a civilian captured in the Kyiv region and illegally held by the Russians.

The Coordination Center noted that the servicemen who were released from Russian captivity are representatives of the National Guard, the Armed Forces (including the Special Forces), the Navy, and the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.

We also managed to take wounded Ukrainian servicemen from the Kursk region. The youngest of them is 24 years old, and the oldest is 60.

"These people went through a lot without proper medical care and inhumane treatment in enemy captivity. The wounded have, among other things, loss of vision, amputations, complex bullet wounds and the consequences of mine injuries. Among the diseases are tuberculosis, oncology, and gangrene, which speaks volumes about the conditions our people have to live in. According to the Third Geneva Convention, it is the seriously ill and seriously wounded who should be returned in the first place," the Coordination Center added.

As a reminder, on January 15, 2025, Ukraine returned 25 military and civilians from Russian captivity.
