Japanese volunteer Fuminori Tsuchiko’s residence permit in Ukraine will be extended - Terekhov

Japanese volunteer Tsuchiko may lose his residence permit

Japanese volunteer Fuminori Tsuchiko has been feeding Kharkiv residents for free since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion. The man said he may lose the right to stay in Ukraine legally. Kharkiv Mayor Terekhov promised that his residence permit would be extended.

He announced this in Telegram, Censor.NET reports.

"Regarding the situation with Kharkiv volunteer Fuminori Tsuchiko. I spoke with the head of the Kharkiv migration service, Oleksandr Timonov, on this issue. What I can tell you is that Fuminori's residence permit in Ukraine will be extended. As for his residence permit, this will be decided later," the mayor said.

Terekhov said that "Fuminori, with his help to the residents of Saltivka, has already become a very important figure for the entire city."

The day before, Fuminori Tsuchiko said that he had been to the migration service several times to get a temporary residence permit, but they did not accept him.

"I have applied to the migration service in Kharkiv many times, but they do not accept me. When I jokingly asked if it was because I don't give bribes, the employee just smiled. Next week I plan to go and try to pay about $1000. Maybe they will really take it. This is a country where anything is possible. I have been doing volunteer work in Kharkiv for three years, and this is the result.

If I don't get a temporary residence permit by the end of next week, not to mention a permanent residence permit, I will stop my activities here and return to Poland," he said.
