Baltic States have finally synchronized with EU energy grid

On Sunday, February 9, Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia completed the process of disconnecting from the Russian power grid and fully synchronized with the EU continental grid.

This is reported by LRT, Censor.NET informs .

"A few minutes ago, I received great news - the synchronization of the Baltic power system with the networks of continental Europe has been successfully completed," said Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda.

Mr. Nausėda called the synchronization with the EU power grid a historic moment that marks the end of a long journey of Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia towards energy independence.

He also added that "the times of political pressure and blackmail are finally over."

In addition, the Lithuanian leader thanked everyone who contributed to this project: from technical staff to former or current leaders of the countries.

Disconnection of the Baltic States from the Russian power grid

As reported earlier, on February 8, Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia disconnected their power systems from the networks of Russia and Belarus.

Before disconnecting from the power grid that connects the Baltic states to the power systems of Russia and Belarus, Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia did not rule out provocations.

However, on the day of the disconnection from the Russian power grid, Latvian Prime Minister Evika Silinia said that the process went off without incident.
