Healey on results of "Ramstein" meeting: we have agreed to supply Ukraine with weapons and ammunition worth billions of dollars

John Healey on results of Ramstein

On Wednesday, 12 February, during a meeting of the Contact Group on Ukraine's Defence in the "Ramstein" format, the participants agreed to provide billions of dollars in aid to Ukraine.

This was announced during the final statement by British Defence Secretary John Healey, according to "Suspilne", Censor.NET reports.

Healey stressed that almost 50 countries have committed to continue supporting Ukraine. Following the meeting, the partner countries decided to supply Ukraine with weapons and ammunition worth billions of dollars.

According to the British Defence Minister, this should increase pressure on Russia and force the Kremlin to the negotiating table.

‘Ukraine leaves this meeting with the support of the members of this group, with the support of weapons and ammunition worth billions of dollars that they have committed today to provide to their fighters, to help increase the pressure on Putin, to help bring Putin to the negotiating table, to help bring a lasting peace,’ Healey said.

In addition, the British minister said that during the meeting, Pentagon Chief Pete Hegseth called on European partners to continue to assist Ukraine.

‘Secretary Hegseth reaffirmed the United States' continued commitment to this group, to Ukraine's desire for lasting peace, and to the importance of the security guarantees we have. We heard his call for European countries to step up. We are doing that and we will continue to do that,’ Healey said.

The British Defence Secretary also said that NATO allies had promised to provide Ukraine with €40 billion in military aid in 2024, but provided €50 billion. At the same time, almost 60% of the aid last year came from European countries.

Finally, he added that European countries have stepped up their support for Ukraine.

As a reminder, on Wednesday, 12 February, a meeting of the Ukraine Defence Contact Group (UDCG) in the "Ramstein" format was held in Brussels under the chairmanship of the United Kingdom.
