Russia is aggressor in war against Ukraine, its end should be decided on Kyiv’s terms, - Australian Defence Minister Marles

Australian Defence Minister Richard Marles said that the war in Ukraine should end on Ukraine's terms.
According to Censor.NET, Reuters reports.
"The war in Ukraine must be resolved on Ukraine's terms, because the aggressor here is Russia, and what we see at stake is the integrity of the rules‑based order, the global rules-based order," Marles said.
He said the conflict had seen extraordinary loss of life but it cannot be peace on any terms. Marles said he welcomed the attempts to end the war.
"But it cannot be on any terms, it must be on Ukraine’s terms, and we'll continue to support Ukraine in that," the minister said.
Australia is a major security ally for the United States in the Indo Pacific, where both countries have expressed concern over China's military build up.
Trump's statement on Zelenskyy's rating
The day before, Trump said that Ukraine needs to hold elections because Zelenskyy's approval rating has dropped to 4%.
As of the first half of February 2025, 57% of Ukrainians trust President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, while 37% do not, according to a KIIS study.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy called the statements about his 4% rating disinformation.
Earlier, US President Donald Trump called Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy a ‘dictator without elections’ because he allegedly convinced America to ‘spend $350 billion on the war’.
