Zelenskyy to sign minerals agreement soon, and that’s good for Ukraine – Waltz

US National Security Advisor Michael Waltz says that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will soon sign an agreement with the US on rare earth metals. According to the official, this will be "good for Ukraine."
Waltz said this during a conference of conservative political action in the United States, The Guardian reports, Censor.NET reports.
The Trump adviser recalled that President Zelenskyy, as part of his "Victory Plan" last fall, proposed that the United States invest in Ukrainian rare earth metals.
According to Waltz, the Ukrainian leader "is going to sign the agreement, and you will see it in the near future."
"And this is good for Ukraine. What could be better for Ukraine than an economic partnership with the United States?" the American official said.
Waltz also praised the White House chief for holding talks with the Russian delegation in Saudi Arabia, noting that "under Trump, this war will end, and it will end soon."
"By the end of it all, we will have the Nobel Peace Prize next to Donald Trump's name," the US Presidential Advisor added.
Minerals agreement with the US
As a reminder, Trump has said he wants to strike a $500 million deal with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on access to rare earth resources and natural gas in Ukraine in exchange for security guarantees in any potential peace settlement.
President Zelenskyy said that the agreement with the US on minerals would be signed at the ministerial level when ready and subject to guarantees. Currently, this document is not ready to protect Ukraine's interest.
Later, Trump said that Ukraine had disrupted the deal on rare earth metals. The agreement was needed so that the US could recover the money spent on supporting Ukraine.
Later, it was reported that the Trump administration had given Ukraine an "improved" draft of the minerals agreement that "complies with Ukrainian law".
