Russian Foreign Intelligence Service Director Naryshkin and US CIA Director Ratcliffe held conversation on sidelines of meeting in Jeddah

US and Russia secretly met in Switzerland

Russian Foreign Intelligence Service Director Sergei Naryshkin and US CIA Director John Ratcliffe held telephone talks to discuss cooperation between the special services and reducing confrontation between Moscow and Washington.

This was reported by Censor.NET with reference to Radio Liberty.

During the talks, the parties discussed cooperation between the two special services in areas of common interest, as well as the possibility of resolving crisis situations.

The Russian side reported that during the conversation, an agreement was reached to maintain regular contacts between the directors in order to ensure international stability and security, as well as to reduce confrontation between Moscow and Washington.

As noted, this was the first telephone conversation between the heads of the FIS and the CIA after Donald Trump took office in January 2025. In 2023, Naryshkin noted that the FIS and the CIA maintain regular consultations, which, although rare, continue on an ongoing basis.

These talks took place against the backdrop of a meeting between representatives of Ukraine and the United States in Saudi Arabia, which also took place on March 11.

Ukraine-US talks in Saudi Arabia

Earlier, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the teams of Ukraine and the United States had resumed work and a "meaningful meeting" could take place next week.

According to Fox News, the delegations of Ukraine and the United States will meet in Saudi Arabia on March 11.

Ukraine's Foreign Ministry believes that the meeting between the US and Ukraine in Saudi Arabia is an opportunity to sign a minerals agreement.
