Active hostilities continue in operational zone of the "Kursk" military group, in outskirts of Sudzha and surrounding areas — Syrskyi

Fighting in the Kursk region

Ukrainian Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi said that the Defence Forces continue to defend themselves in the Kursk region.

He wrote about this in his telegram channel, Censor.NET reports.

The Commander-in-Chief noted that the enemy is deploying assault units of airborne troops and special operations forces in an attempt to break through our defenses, push our forces out of Russia’s Kursk region, and shift combat operations to the territory of Sumy and Kharkiv regions.

He emphasized that, while trying to achieve its political goals at any cost, the enemy has already suffered — and continues to suffer — significant losses in the Kursk region.

Since the beginning of the Kursk operation (from August 6, 2024, to the present), total Russian military losses have exceeded 54,900 personnel. Of these, over 22,200 are irrecoverable losses, 31,800 are wounded, and 942 have been taken prisoner.

In addition, about 2,100 pieces of Russian military equipment and weapons were damaged or destroyed. In particular, 90 tanks, 654 armoured combat vehicles, five MLRS, two air defence systems, one aircraft, two helicopters, more than 1,100 vehicles, and 28 pieces of special equipment. In addition, almost 1,500 drones.

Russian aviation has carried out an unprecedented number of strikes on the territory of its own region. In particular, as a result of air strikes on the town of Sudzha, this settlement was almost completely destroyed.

"In the most difficult situations, my priority has been and remains preserving the lives of Ukrainian soldiers. To this end, Defence Forces units, if necessary, maneuver to more advantageous positions. Unmanned systems and artillery firepower are primarily employed for this purpose. I have issued all the necessary orders. As of 6 p.m., our troops repelled eight enemy assault attempts in the Kursk direction. Despite the increased pressure from the joint Russian-North Korean army, we will continue to hold the defense in the Kursk region for as long as it is appropriate and necessary," Syrskyi emphasized.

The situation in the Kursk region

Earlier, Censor.NET Editor-in-Chief Yurii Butusov informed that Russian stormtroopers had infiltrated Sudzha through a gas pipeline. The area of their concentration has been identified, and liquidation is underway.

Forbes stated that it is likely that the bulk of Ukrainian forces, including some of the most capable brigades of the Ukrainian army, have withdrawn from Kursk region to the Ukrainian side of the border.
